Welcome to First Grade!

Welcome to a wonderful year of learning and fun!  We are excited to start our year with you tomorrow, August 1st.  Please remember, if you did not bring your supplies to Meet the Teacher we will be helping your student get organized and set up on the first day.  We have snack time each day, so a nut free snack in addition to lunch is appreciated! We will be starting the year learning the following:

ELA:  Kevin Henkes, Aesop Fables

Poetry: The Caterpillar by: Christina Rossetti

Math: Using a storyboard to solve math problems; skip counting

History: What is History? Introduction to Mesopotamia

Science:  The Scientific Process (ask your students what they learned during their Jitter Juice experiment!)

Writing: What makes a complete sentence?

The Caterpillar

Brown and furry
Caterpillar in a hurry;
Take your walk
to the shady leaf, or stalk

May no toad spy you,
May the little birds pass by you;
Spin and die,
to live again a butterfly.
